T'was the Days Before Isaac

And all through the house
Every creature was stirring even Bob the mouse
The hurricane list checked with great care
In hopes that Isaac does not bring his nightmare

Battery operated radio
Flashlight
Extra batteries
At least three gallons of water per person
Minimum three day supply of non-perishable food
First aid kit
Non-electric can opener; utility knife
Paper cups, plates, and plastic utensils
Duct and masking tape
Pencil and paper
Needles and thread
Matches in a waterproof container
Assorted nails, wood screws and rope
Pliers, screwdrivers, hammer and crowbar
Cash or traveler's checks and change
Disinfectant, household chlorine bleach, soap, and liquid detergent
Personal hygiene items
Sunglasses, rain gear, hat and gloves, sturdy shoes or work boots
Blankets or sleeping bags
Important telephone numbers

We spoke not a word, but went straight to our work
And checked all provisions, then turned with a jerk
And laying a finger to our nose
Off to finish Sunday breakfast we both rose

Everything checked off we both gave a whistle
And away we both flew fast as a missile
I heard all the Bobs exclaim
“Happy No Isaac to all & have a great day!”

Twas the Night Before #IGC12

And all through Navy Pier
The gardeners are arriving from both far & near
The exhibits being set up with great care
In the hopes that St Garden soon would be there

The people all looking at flower beds
While visions of agapanthus danced in their heads.
And Bob in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for tonight’s #gardenchat

When out on the exhibit hall there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from laptop to see what was the matter.
Away to the screen I flew like a flash,
Tore open the door and fired up the mouse.

Bren sprang from her @ThisIsGMC and gave a whistle
From Chicago #gardenchat brings you ICG12
Hoping to all a good Garden night!

I Wish You Enough

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much
bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye.
